‘Dedicated to Effective Education’ conference
On February 10, 2017 r. the Regional Teacher Development Centre ‘WOM’ in Częstochowa hosted the ‘Dedicated to Effective Education’ conference, within the cooperation of RODN ‘WOM’ with the Pearson Central Europe Sp. z o.o. educational institution.
Pearson is, among others, an organiser of international English language exams acknowledged by the Ministry of Education as giving linguistic qualifications to teach English in pre-school and early school education. For over a year teachers have been able to enter these exams on the premises of RODN ‘WOM’ in Częstochowa also acting as an accredited test centre of PEARSON TEST OF ENGLISH GENERAL.
With the above-mentioned information Marta Lipska, a teacher consultant of RODN ‘WOM’ in Częstochowa, began the conference. Next, she presented a base of free teaching resources on the webpage of RODN ‘WOM’ which was created for English teachers within open educational resources. These materials, published under a CC-BY license, are exercises devised by teachers of English which can be used in the lessons as well as in extra-curricular classes. These exercises can be also modified and adapted to students’ individual needs and skills.
Next, the representatives of Pearson, Magdalena Chrabąszcz and Jan Witek, talked about the incoming alterations in foreign language teaching. The training sessions of the conference were conducted in English by Pearson trainers, Anna Kolbuszewska and Marek Jędryka. The trainers presented ideas how to make lessons focussing on Use of English unforgettable. Also, facts and myths of using technology in teaching were discussed and interactive teaching materials devised by Pearson were presented. The training sessions were full of inspiration and humour.
